The Alexander Technique is an education in movement. By attending to our balance and improving our coordination, we learn to perform at our best, free of pain.

The Alexander Technique: what it is and who studies it.

When we improve how we move, we can transform the quality of our lives. This insight is at the heart of the Alexander Technique.

The Alexander Technique is the practical study of movement—of coordination, self-awareness and constructive change. In an Alexander lesson, you learn to attend to how you are moving. You learn to identify your movement habits and whether they are efficient or harmful. And you learn to change harmful habits—freeing yourself to perform at your best and without pain.

The Alexander Technique is appropriate for anyone interested in how they move. Since being certified as a teacher, I have worked with students from age 18 to 75. They have come from a wide variety of professions and passions, including the performing arts, psychology and neuroscience, writing, graphic design, information technology, public and educational policy, medicine, real estate, engineering, athletics, martial arts, and clergy.

Students come to the Technique for a variety of reasons, including:
